In industrial flexographic printing, stack type and central impression type are two core printing press structures. Their fundamental difference lies in the arrangement of the color units and the paper feed path, which directly determines their differences in key performance aspects such as registration accuracy, material adaptability, and production efficiency.
1. Stack Type Flexographic Printing Press
Mechanical Structure: Employs a modular tower structure, with each printing color unit (typically 6-8 units) independently stacked symmetrically around a central large cylinder. Each color unit is equipped with its own independent impression cylinder.
Paper Feed Path: The printing material travels freely (unsupported) between color units, moving from one impression point to the next. The path is relatively long, and the material undergoes multiple cycles of bending, stretching, and releasing under tension.
2. CI Flexographic Printing Press
Mechanical Structure: All printing color units (usually 8-10) are arranged like satellites, surrounding a large central impression cylinder (CIC).
Paper Feed Path: After the substrate enters the machine, it is compressed and wrapped around the surface of the central impression cylinder throughout its travel, passing through each printing color unit in sequence. Only after completing the registration of all colors does it leave the cylinder.
