VIDEO CONTENTS:
[0:00] What happened to my navy?
[1:52] Adding resists to the yarn
300 g of stroll fingering weight yarn
Presoaked in plain tap water with no acid
[3:09] The dyestock
this is the exact dyestock I used when I had the issue
1% dye stock of dark navy
Maybe 5 weeks ld.
Measure out 150 mL of the dye stock for the base color (~1.5 g dye)
[4:28] Kettle dyeing the yarn
24 cups of water, the dye I measured.
Add the yarn before adding acid. Then add 6 T white vinegar with the yarn mostly out of the pot. Lots of stirring
All of this was set up cold.
Now go and heat for 30 minutes
[7:29] I don't check the temperature of the dyebaths
[9:03] Checking in on the kettle dyed yarn
leave the heat on for 10 more minutes (differing from what I did the last time)
Turn off the heat, and leave the yarn in the pot for 30 minutes (because that is exactly what I did last time)
[10:55] Removing the yarn from the dyebath
let it cool 1-2 hours
[12:18] Setting up the steamer basket
using the leftover dyebath for the water to steam set things
[12:29] removing the resists
Set skein 1 aside.
[14:26] Steam setting the yarn
Added skeins 2 & 3 to the basket
[15:30] Will we get results?
[16:40] removing yarn after 30 min
[18:57] Shocked!
[23:34] removing yarn after 60 min
[25:00] Logical next questions
[26:21] All 3 skeins
[27:49] washing the yarn
[29:32] the finished dry yarn and conclusions
