Jimmy Drake, a truck driver, owned a small home studio with which he earned some additional money by recording demos for ongoing songwriters. But after a while he started to record, as "Nervous Norvus", also some song ideas of his own and sent them to Red Blanchard, a local radio DJ, in the hope that he might find him some musicians who would play the songs. But Blanchard immediately loved Drake´s way of singing, just added a few sound effects on some tracks and played the songs on air. This was such a success that Dot Records became interested and published the Nervous Norvus songs on record, again as they were. The rest is history.
