Primavera P6 is comprehensive Project Management Software that provides advance features for Planning/Scheduling, Resource allocation and monitoring.
In this video I tried to explain the followings
1) Compute Activity duration
2) Create and Assign Calendars
3) Early and Lates Dates
4) Floats (Total and Free Floats)
5) Copy and Paste
ACTIVITY DURATION:
Activity Duration is very crucial and critical, as wrong estimation may effect future results. Duration of any activity is constrained as either the Project is Time constraint or resource constraint
In Time constraint the resources to be provided to meet the target dates and vice versa
Calendars are created and assigned to define gazetted holidays and working hours, the same calendars to be assigned to all activities. Three types of calendars to be assigned for
a) 6-Days Working days for contractor
b) 7-Days for Preliminaries
c) 5-Days work for Govt Autho. and Engineer/Consultant
Ealy and Late Dates are computed from the defined relationship and duration once the program is scheduled. The Network calculation are performed using Critical Path Method (CPM) for both Forward and Backward path.
Early dates are dates an activity cant be started/finished before and Late the activity can't start or finish
Based on Early and Late Date float time is computed. It is time an activity can be delayed/postponed without delaying the Project or immediate successor activity. There are 2-types of flaot
a) Total Float (time an activity can be postponed without delaying the project
b) Free Float (time an activity can be postponed without delaying the immediate successor activity
Copy and past is very tool to repeat the work, which expedite the productivity of Planning Engineer
