The world's first hard drive was the IBM 350 Disk Storage Unit, which was introduced by IBM in 1956 as part of the IBM RAMAC (Random Access Method of Accounting and Control) computer system. The IBM 350 is often considered one of the earliest examples of a computer hard drive.
