First time on Whistler's Peak to Creek (January 2024) - Whistler Peak to Village

Top to Bottom of Whistler mountain, and taking Upper Peak to Creek intermediate route for my first time...

My second time ever to Whistler Blackcomb, and my second time ever going to the Whistler's peak. Last year, I got to enjoy a very sunny, scenic, beautiful run down Matthew's Traverse and Burnt Stew Trail green runs (   • Whistler Blackcomb's Scenic peak (Jan. 202...  ).

This year I wanted to go the other direction and finally tackle the infamous Peak to Creek, touted as one of (if not) the longest ski runs in North America, stretching 11km/6.8 miles long!

Sadly, the lower half was closed due to poor snow conditions this day, so I trekked Highway 86 all the way back to Whistler Village in this run, which still provided for a lengthy ride overall!

I wasn't completely sure what to expect other than it being a blue run the whole way down. What I wasn't expecting was how relatively steep the upper parts of it was, and how many moguls mixed with firmly packed and soft snow had dotted the run, which provided a fairly tricky challenge added in with the day being overcast, making it harder to see the surface.

I consider myself an intermediate midwestern U.S. snowboarder who can handle some moguls and spots of steep terrain in a pinch, so these longer stretches were certainly a fun challenge to try and get comfortable with! My thighs were very sore by the end, and I was out of breath a lot, but hopefully I can properly revisit this run another year and challenge myself to get to the bottom quicker than the 35-ish minutes it took me this time with breaks!
