The Kriegsmesser, or "war knife", was a professional soldier's weapon used in the late medieval period throughout what is now Germany. A larger version of the Messer (or "knife"), this sword featured hard wood grips connected directly on the sides of the tang, a single edge, and sometimes curved blades. We review the sparring war knife made by VB Sword Shop in Hungary, and sold through Purple Heart Armory in the United States. Currently, it is one of the only affordable sparring kriegsmessers available.
