FR70 - Gravity Train

Over the weekend of 20-22nd June 2025 the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways celebrated their Platinum Jubilee - that’s 70 years of preservation!

As one of the Moving Media team, I was of course on filming duties for the whole weekend. Whilst the FWHR have a video of the whole weekend available on their channel (90 minutes long!), I’ve decided to break mine down into daily vlogs instead. So if you’ve seen that video you may have seen bits of mine however in my vlogs you’ll see the bits that didn’t make the cut.

This is the gravity train trip that I did with Tim Dunn on Saturday morning. A chance meeting on Friday evening saw us ending up on the Saturday morning gravity train. This was incredibly special - the slate waggons don't travel all the way to Blaenau normally. So to travel past my childhood home in a slate waggon was amazing, truly a once in a lifetime thing*!
