Welcome back to another PhD life vlog! I’m Alexus Cazares, a 6th year PhD student struggling with the question: should i quit my PhD. In this PhD vlog, I am sharing something deeply personal about my PjD journey, experience, and PhD struggles. As a final year PhD student, I have been feeling very overwhelmed and dealing with burnout. And honestly, I want to quit my PhD almost everyday.

For the past 5 years, I have documented my PhD journey and grad school life online. All of the highs and all of the lows, in hopes that it would help other students see what PhD life is really like and why it can be so challenging. Being a PhD student has been my identity for so long, so it’s really scary how much I want to quit my PhD and leave academia and research behind. If you’re a PhD student or grad school and feel like leaving your PhD, or maybe wondering why people quit their PhDs in their final year, then this vlog is for you. I’ve decided that I wont be quitting yet, even though I really want to sometimes, and I am sharing some of the reasons why I am deciding to stay.
