As far as we know this landmark translation of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) into British Sign Language (BSL) is the first translation of the Preamble and all 30 Articles of the UDHR into BSL by Deaf people for Deaf people.
The translation is presented by Tessa Padden and Nicholas Padden and it has been sponsored and produced by Signworld. Signworld is a website specialising in user-centred and online BSL Learning and they have produced this translation as their contribution to Anniversary—an act of memory, solo, collective and multi-lingual recitations from memory of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,a performance series in 60 Acts by Monica Ross and Co-Recitors 2008-2013.
To date the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is translated into more than 400 spoken languages on the UN website
