To celebrate 170 years of the NSW Government Railways, Transport Heritage NSW operated a new edition of the Great Train Race as part of the Transport Heritage Expo featuring locomotives 3526 and 3001, with the latter returning to the mainline for the first time in 26 years, following restoration back in 2023 and 2 years of service as the primary loop line engine. This video is shot with no cuts from the beginning of the race at Erskineville to Hurstville, with 3526 continuning to Mortdale to reverse the consist and head back up to Central Station.
