A two-vehicle crash involving a passenger car and a parked semi-truck trailer sent one person to
the hospital and led to a suspected DUI arrest early Saturday morning, January 10, 2026.

Riverside Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol were dispatched to the collision on
southbound Interstate 215 near Blaine Street, where a car carrying two occupants struck the rear
of a semi-truck trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the freeway where a construction crew
was getting ready to load equipment.

Fire crews found both occupants inside the vehicle. One person was transported to a local
hospital with injuries that were not immediately disclosed. The second occupant was evaluated
at the scene, administered field sobriety tests, and later taken into custody on suspicion of driving
under the influence.

Construction workers at the scene with FBD Vanguard Construction were on the shoulder
preparing to load equipment from a gravel area beneath an overpass onto the parked semi
when the crash occurred. Neither worker was injured.
