On October 23, 2011, the MotoGP world was shaken by a heartbreaking tragedy at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Italian rider Marco Simoncelli, only 24 years old at the time, suffered a fatal crash during the second lap of the race. Simoncelli lost control of his bike while cornering and fell, but tragically his body and motorcycle slid back into the racing line.
