In Mercedes-Benz's case, that premium comes in the form of its Maybach sub-brand, and the 2025 Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 is the brand's largest interpretation of opulence. It's based on the already-refined Mercedes-Benz GLS-class, so you may be asking, "What's the difference?" The short answer: about $100,000. A more complete answer points to an impeccably appointed cabin that is draped in some of the finest materials. The Maybach also dispenses with the standard GLS' third row of seats, allowing for limousine-like stretches of rear legroom. With plenty of customization options, you can order your Maybach to fit your taste, whether they lean more toward understatement or flash. In this rarified class, rivals are limited to the Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and honestly, you can't go wrong with any of these.

What's New for 2025?

The GLS600 gains a fingerprint scanner and three years of satellite radio as standard equipment. On the options side, a new Manufaktur Signature Interior Package adds premium nappa leather interior coverings in Truffle Brown, Yacht Blue, or Carmine Red. There are also four new Manufaktur Signature paints (Ireland Mid Green Metallic, Mystic Blue Metallic, Cote d'Azur Light Blue Metallic, and Silicon Grey).

Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2025 Mercedes-Maybach GLS-class starts at $179.600 and goes up to $205.200 depending on the trim and options.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The GLS600's twin-turbocharged V-8 makes 550 horsepower and is assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system that gives a little extra shove right from the start. During our initial test drive, we came away impressed with both its silky-smooth ride quality and its confident handling. An air suspension is standard, and it features a Maybach mode that all but erases bumps in the road.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

While the regular Benz-branded GLS-class SUV is a three-row affair, the Maybach GLS600 offers just two rows, both of which offer heat and massage functions. The rear seats are the place to be, with acres of legroom and two power-adjustable recliner seats—riding in the back is akin to traveling in the fanciest first-class airline cabins. A three-across bench is also offered, but c'mon, the executive treatment is what this SUV is all about. Nappa leather covers the dash, door panels, and seats, while real wood trim with a handsome pinstripe adds a touch of class. A fragrance diffuser helps occupants create the sensory oasis they deserve after a hard day of being filthy rich. Cargo capacity isn't as generous here as it is in the regular GLS-class since the rear seats are fixed and don't fold to accommodate larger items. Mercedes-Maybach says there's still about 19 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and will offer a handsome set of custom-fitted luggage.
