Join me as I show you one of my favorite recent projects: an antique gramophone,. This video features the restoration and modernization of an antique Columbia Grafonola, transformed into a fully functional modern record player while preserving most of its original vintage appearance.
Originally built as a phonograph in the early 1900s, this Columbia Grafonola has been carefully adapted to play vinyl records using modern audio components, blending classic craftsmanship with today’s listening standards. The cabinet, styling, and character remain true to the original design, while the internals allow for reliable playback of 33, 45 RPM vinyl with improved sound quality.
This project sits at the intersection of restoration, analog audio, and modern hi-fi, making it ideal for fans of vintage equipment, vinyl collections, gramophones, phonographs, and creative repair projects. Whether you’re part of the vinyl community, an audio enthusiast, or someone who appreciates thoughtful preservation, this piece shows how history and modern technology can coexist.
