Do you ever overhear a conversation, in a cafe or a library or even a bookstore and wish you could hear the whole thing? Maybe it's some interesting gossip told by true storytellers. Maybe it's old friends discussing the books they've encountered. Maybe it's a professor and a bookseller who have been friends for twenty years, love the same bookstore, and adore talking about books. That last one seem a little specific? Not anymore.
In this debut episode, Rosie and Gia discuss the trials and tribulations of handselling a book: the art of physically handing a book to a customer and trying to convince them to read it. There's a big difference between a favorite book and a favorite book to handsell and this video teases out the differences.
Featuring: Trial of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse; Hope Leslie by Catharine Maria Sedgwick; The Wee Free Men, by Terry Pratchett; Journey to the River Sea, by Eva Ibbotson; Braiding Sweetgrass, by Robin Wall Kimmerer; Teaching the Trees, by Joan Maloof; Sourdough, by Robin Sloan; Little Dorrit, by Charles Dickens
