In this video we have Glen's biggest helicopter a Vario Gazelle. While glen has had her for a year now it has had a few issues which are now fixed. This one of the first flights after the initial set up flights. Glen is still learning how the model flies and is a little apprehensive due it size.
The model is a 1/4 scale of a Westland Gazelle HT 2, 705 Naval Air Squadron in the markings of the then world famous Shark's Helicopter Display Team that flew displays between 1975 and 1992.
The model was built for Glen by Nigel Brackley who has modified to take a Jetcat PHT3-3V2 Turboshaft engine mounted up and behind the main shaft while not in the exact scale position its close enough for modelling purposes. Nigel built and painted the model leaving the interior and any exterior detailing to Glen. Who has made a start with a highly detailed instrument panel and controls. He has also fitted a scale pilot from tailored pilots who sat in the right seat. On the left is his co pilot Biggles Bear who came from the Fleet Arm Museum. He is a big hit with kids when we have displayed statically.
Glen Plans to finish the the detailing off over the winter and weather permitting practice flying with her. We look forward this large model to events and shows next year.
If your interested in a large Gazelle you will need to contact Vario Helicopters as it a special request item
