What the heck is this wood? It looks like red oak, but isn't anywhere near hard enough. These logs are from a long dead tree pulled from the edge of a swamp. Is it rare? Is it ancient? Who knows? I'm asking my viewers for help here, can you identify it? This is what I love about the sawmill, there's never a dull moment. These logs were in my firewood pile for a long time, the wood is still very solid despite their age. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated.
Please note: I’m no kind of expert with the sawmill, but I’m figuring it out. This all began a few years back when I started harvesting all these magnificent trees for firewood. I clearly needed a sawmill.
Each episode includes the harvest of the tree, then the processing of it into lumber for my own use or futures sales. The trees have all been harvested from my family’s farm in Southern Ontario, Canada. They are all hardwoods and the plot hasn't been harvested in a while. I've been concentrating on standing dead, uprooted and just cleaning up the land. If you like watching a sawmill in action, this is the channel for you! Thank you so much for watching and please subscribe to help me grow my channel.
