Gearing up for racing this season one of our main goals was to drop 150 lbs of weight from the car. With the carbon hood (-16 lbs) and now these racing seats (-34) we are 1/3 of the way to our goal. Also in this video we discuss the passenger occupancy detection system and how we were able to bypass it completely in our race car, since the weight sensor would not fit under our seat we would rather the airbag always on as opposed to always off (in the event we have a passenger on board we want the airbag to be functional). In future videos we will chip away at our weight savings goal by adding tubular subframes, lightweight flywheel, and other removal of items that will not be used, but keep in mind, the class we race in requires a full interior so it isn't as simple as ripping out the seats, carpet and trim.
