Nurburgring Nordschleife - Lambo Chase & Crash on New Nankangs

Ok so the plan was, new set of Nankang CR-S tyres, 2 scrub in laps, drop pressures, 2 exploratory / push laps to get them hot, drop pressures....and off we go for a fun day of TF..... However.... life had different plans.

So this lap was just after the 2 slow scrub in laps and I had just dropped the pressures although the tyres were not yet hot so ... needed more dropping later once I had leant on them a little more. *Driver excuse incoming* .... I wasn't sure how much I could lean on the tyres in the corners as they were new and I hadn't sorted out the pressures.

The lap started with my exiting the T13 Pit area straight into a Lambo Huracan STO which was temptation number one...... I was a good boy and took it easy around Hatzenbach, Flugplatz and into SX but then there was a Yellow.... which bought me back close to the STO..... this lap is becoming a tease !!

The tyres felt ok so after the Yellow zone I pushed it a little more into Fox Hole where I came across a fellow "The Crown Performance" car (Blue E36). He let me past just after Adenauer Forst so I could chase down the Lambo but he was quicker than me in the subsequent corners so I let him back past again at Kellenhard. Through Breitscheid, I could feel the new Tyres starting to switch on so I decided to try and pace the E36 for the remainder of the lap.... that didn't quite work out either though as Steilstrecke had a surprise in store for us when traffic came to an abrupt halt due to a crash.

Once that was sorted out, I spent the remainder of the lap just enjoying the lap with the people around me and trying to hunt down the Lambo. Not sure if the video audio will pick it up but it sounded epic !!

Not the ideal lap to scrub in and test a new set of tyres but a very interesting one all the same.

For anyone who is interested, the GT4 and GT3 drivers were ok with only some minor injuries. A testament to modern car design and safety as those were fast cars on a fast part of the track.
