State Street Says Institutional Investors Expect Their Digital Asset Exposure to Double Within Three Years

State Street, the global asset management giant, reported that most institutional investors expect their exposure to digital assets will double within the next three years, according to a new research report.

In a statement released on October 10, 2025, more than half of institutional investors also projected that 10–24% of their total investments will be tokenized by 2030.

The report highlights that assets such as private equity and private fixed income will likely be the first to undergo tokenization, driven by the potential for greater liquidity and operational efficiency.

State Street’s research also revealed that 40% of institutional investors now have dedicated digital asset units, while nearly three-quarters view blockchain operations as an integral part of their digital transformation.

Donna Milrod, Chief Product Officer at State Street, said that the company’s clients are “reworking their operational models” to adapt to digital assets — signaling a paradigm shift in the financial industry.

This shift is being fueled by benefits such as increased transparency (52%), faster trading (39%), and lower compliance costs (32%), with nearly half of respondents expecting cost savings of more than 40%.
