The fear surrounding tailwheel airplanes stems from a lack of understanding of center of gravity (CG) and its impact on handling during landing. Unlike tricycle gear planes, where the main landing gear is behind the CG, tailwheel planes have the main gear in front of CG, making them more challenging to control during ground operations, especially in crosswinds. Most pilots today train on tricycle gear planes; however, mastering taildraggers is simply a matter of learning proper technique.
