Trump Reiterates Threat on Nigeria’s Terror Groups+China Funding Terrorist in Nigeria Report|OjyOkpe

The diplomatic crisis between Nigeria and the U.S. intensified as President Donald Trump released a new video, doubling down on his claims of "Christian Genocide" and reiterating his vow to defend Nigerian Christians, suggesting his administration remains unconvinced by Nigerian rebuttals.

​In Nigeria, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris accused "foreign lobbyists," particularly in the U.S., of fueling the genocide narrative to deliberately promote misleading portrayals of the country's security challenges for "undisclosed purposes," maintaining that no systematic targeting of any religious group exists.

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, backed the government's stance, accusing Trump of "lying to the world" without evidence.

Amid the deeply contested narrative of religious violence in Nigeria, a video featuring Bishop Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, where he presented serious allegations before the U.S. Congress on February 14, 2024, and March 12, 2025, claiming systematic persecution of Christian farming communities in Benue State, has resurfaced online.

The Bishop stated that over 1,000 Christians have been killed and more than 160 churches destroyed alongside the seizure of large tracts of land over the past decade by Fulani Militants.

​The Department of State Services (DSS) announced it is prosecuting several high-profile terrorism suspects before the Federal High Court in Abuja, including the self-styled Emir of ANSARU, Mahmud Muhammad Usman, and his deputy, Abubakar Abba, as well as suspects in the 2011 UN Complex bombing and the June 2022 Owo Catholic Church attack.

The DSS also filed charges against suspects connected to the June 2025 Yelwata massacre in Benue State.

​Adding a complex international dimension, a resurfaced report by The Times alleged that Chinese nationals in Nigeria's mining sector are funding terrorist groups through illegal security deals to secure access to mineral reserves, an accusation Senator Adams Oshiomhole also made earlier this year.

This highlights an alleged hypocrisy in China's criticism of Trump's military intervention threat.

​Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo issued a stark warning to Trump in a viral video, threatening that Nigeria "will become their graveyard" if the U.S. attempts any military intervention.

​Finally, the nation marked the 92nd posthumous birthday of former Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (born November 4, 1933).

Former Governor Peter Obi honored Ojukwu's legacy, calling him a figure who "embodied courage, intellect, dignity and firm conviction."
