Shopian Administration Bans Loudspeaker Use for Two Months to Check Noise Pollution

In a significant step to curb rising noise pollution, the District Administration Shopian has imposed a complete ban on the use of loudspeakers and amplifiers across the district for a period of two months.

The decision follows repeated complaints from the general public about excessive noise causing inconvenience, particularly in residential areas.

As per the official order, the restriction applies to the overuse of loudspeakers, public address systems and amplifiers, especially those being used for commercial sales, promotional activities, and other non-essential purposes.

The administration has instructed all individuals, shopkeepers, traders, and organizations to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
The District Administration has made it clear that the order must be followed in letter and spirit. Any person found violating the ban will be dealt with strictly under relevant laws officials warned,

Furthermore adding that the measure has been taken in the larger public interest to maintain peace and tranquility.

Sources in the administration said the move comes after sustained public feedback and inputs highlighting the growing menace of noise pollution in the district.

A similar order had earlier been issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zainpora a couple of months ago. After reviewing its impact and public response, the administration decided to extend the ban to the entire district of Shopian.

The decision has been widely welcomed by residents who have long been demanding effective action against noise pollution.
