US Fed Chair Warns Of Stagflation Risk, Trump Says Powell's 'Termination Cannot Come Fast Enough"

Jerome Powell, chair of the US Federal Reserve, had a grim warning to share in a recent speech. Trump tariffs, Jerome warned, have taken the US economy and the Fed into uncharted territory. The scale of Trump’s tariffs was so unprecedented that the Fed, Powell said, would have to wait for more data on market movement before it can decide what to do with interest rates.
Powell warned that the Fed’s twin mandates, keeping inflation in check and sustaining high employment levels “are in tension”. Powell’s comments, experts say, are a clear warning of the dreaded state of ‘stagflation’
