In today's episode of The Paint Show I want to share with you Hansa Yellow Medium, by Daniel Smith!

🎨 HANSA YELLOW MEDIUM TUBE 🎨

This paint was completely under my radar for a while.

I originally got it together with Daniel Smith Primary set, which I always highly recommend.

The funny fact is that I dislike the combination of the paints in the set. I don't think it's a beautiful combination (Hansa Yellow Medium + French Ultramarine + Perylene Red).

However, each of the tubes is valuable in its own right, and it's much more cost-effective to get them in the set.

As I fear "cool" yellows, I didn't really give this one enough love, but after reading Daniel Smith's description, and playing around with it, I realise it's more of a neutral yellow than a cool one.

Pigment: PY97 (Arylide Yellow FGL)
Series 2
Lightfastness: I (excellent)
Semi-transparent
Low-staining
Non-granulating

In the video I compare these stats with the Hansa Yellow Light paint. I find they are mostly similar, but the Medium has better lightfastness (and thus a little more expensive).

🎨 CONCLUSION 🎨

I'm very pleased with how this paint looks and will try to incorporate it more in future works.
