Jurassic Park may look effortless on screen — but behind the scenes, it was anything but.

The production of Jurassic Park was a storm of rewrites, studio pressure, conflicting schedules, and near-total collapse. Michael Crichton’s original idea was rejected. Spielberg was torn between two career-defining projects and had to again re-write the playbook when it came to special effects both practical and digital.
