Upgrading the Starter Wire Indian Challenger

Today’s video we will put a Facebook post claims to the test and see if upgrading your Indian Challengers start wire actually makes a difference. This video idea was started when we came across a post on one of the Indian Challenger facebook pages. The post was a very extensive post going through the process of installing an upgraded power wire from the battery - starter solenoid, solenoid - distribution block, and solenoid - starter itself. The upgraded wire replaces the stock 8 gauge wire with 4 gauge power wire. In the post they claimed that the upgraded wiring allowed the bike to start smoother due to the larger sized wire allowing increased current flow. This theory on paper makes sense, thus we decided we had to give it a try. We made our own wire set with upgraded 4 gauge OFC power wire along with 10 gauge to replace the wire to the fused distribution. Now for our findings, The one pro is we gained 1.5A draw on start up from OEM to aftermarket wiring. The CON’S, the bike didn’t start any easier, money spent on no improvement in starting. After the complete testing we have determined this Myth is busted and we don’t feel the upgrade is worth the expense and time to install. By no means are we stating that the creator of the post lied, rather in our experience we didn’t notice any notable increase worth the install.
