Whistles On The Autumn Wind - Reading & Northern

The Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern's Fall Foliage trips have been a major annual event for many years. Although some of the trips are diesel-powered, the main attraction is the steam trips. 4-6-2 Light Pacific #425 is the star of these roughly 100 mile round trips between Reading Outer Station and Jim Thorpe. Built in 1928 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, the Four and a Quarter, as she is affectionately known, was in charge of an impressive 17 car consist over the former Reading Company and Central Railroad of New Jersey. Assisting the 425 up and down the tough grades are RBMN #5018 and #5019. Both former CSX SD50-2's in the railroad's one "Fast Freight Service" scheme.
