================================
FIVE KINGDOM CLASSIFICATION
R.H. Whittaker: The scientist who proposed the five-kingdom classification system.
Five Kingdoms:
Monera: Organisms with no true nucleus (prokaryotic).
Protista: Single-celled eukaryotic organisms.
Fungi: Heterotrophic, eukaryotic organisms with cell walls.
Plantae: Multicellular, eukaryotic, autotrophic (food-producing) organisms with cellulose cell walls.
Animalia: Multicellular, eukaryotic, heterotrophic organisms without cell walls.
Cellular Structure: Distinguishes between prokaryotic (Monera) and eukaryotic (Protista, Fungi, Plantae, Animalia) cells.
Nutrition: Describes how organisms obtain food; autotrophic (plants) and heterotrophic (fungi, animals).
Cell Wall: Key features include the presence and composition of a cell wall, such as cellulose in plants and chitin in fungi.
Examples: Specific examples for each kingdom to illustrate the concept, such as :
Bacteria (Monera),
Amoeba (Protista),
Mushroom (Fungi),
Mango tree (Plantae), and
Lion (Animalia).
Classification: The process of grouping organisms based on similarities and differences.
