Common sense prepping
In this video I show my temporarily installed Vevor diesel heater in my basement. .
This is not a permanent or approved installation – it’s an emergency backup setup, mainly intended for longer power outages during very cold weather.
We have our own well, and in extreme cold a long power outage could risk the incoming water line freezing. This setup is part of my preparedness to prevent that.
The heater is powered by a 100Ah AGM battery that is kept on maintenance charging, and I demonstrate how I control the heater and adjust the power level using the remote control.
I also show:
How the exhaust goes out through an existing wall vent
Stone wool insulation around the exhaust where it passes through the wall
The outdoor exhaust outlet
This setup has clear limitations:
It is temporary
Airflow and exhaust routing are not optimal
Refueling is inconvenient
It doesnt utalize the exhaustheat
Air-intake is to close to the heated air than optimal
The long-term plan is a permanent installation in my shed, but I like having a system that can be set up quickly if needed.
Thanks for watching!
