Model T Camping & exploring along the old Missouri and North Arkansas RR

This is our first vintage camping trip with the Model T this spring/summer. We are camping, hiking, and exploring along the old Missouri and North Arkansas Railroad (M&NA). (not to be confused with the Missouri and Northen Arkansas RR that is still active). The M&NA RR ran from the late 1800s till just after WW2 when the tracks were removed in 1946. It ran from Joplin MO to Helena AR. thru the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkans and the Delta lands of Arkansas. If interested in more history of the railroad there is lots of info and photos on the internet. The place we are camping at is on private land and we are very grateful to the property owners for allowing us to camp and explore the almost two miles of right of way and his complete farm. This place just overflows with history and beauty. All of this property was open to everyone for years. Due to recent property damage, it is now gated and locked. So please remember to leave the places you visit as good or better than you found them, or we may not have anywhere to go in the future. We barely scratched the surface of this place. We hope to do another trip back there this fall and cover some more of the things we just did not have time for this time. It is almost Imposible to show how steep the road is in places. There were several places we were in low pedal and low Warford. To folks unfamiliar to Model Ts that is about as low gear as it gets with a Model T. A Warford is an auxiliary transmission behind the stock Ford transmission. They were very popular accessories back in the model T era. They give an underdrive/stock gearing/ and an overdrive to the model T. With only 20 horsepower to work with we need all the gearing we can get.
