💡 This EP 2 shares our day trip with the private boat from Gili Air to Gili Meno and how it has become our best snorkel trip ever. Most of the moments are underwater so it's gonna sound like a beach vibe music playlist. Here are the highlights:

❓ What is Gili Meno
Gili Meno is the smallest island among the three famous Gili Islands, located off the northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia. We didn't stay overnight because Gili Meno has a limited supply of fresh water, which is shipped from Lombok, so most hotels and bungalows have saline water in the showers. After taking everything under consideration, we think the best for us is just a day trip.

❓ Is Gili Meno worth it
Yes, yes, and yes. This is our best beach and snorkel experience ever. We love nature and unspoiled beaches. So we enjoyed so much the quiet and peaceful beach vibe that only Gili Meno has. After the troubles in Episode 1, this is such a reward!

❓ How we book our private boat with a captain and a guide
We booked with our hotel for 900k IDR/ 55$/2 people/ 4 hours with 5 stops.
🛥️ Include: Snorkel equipment, life vest, fins, round trip boat, water guide showing us the hidden spots.
🛥️ Exclude: Lunch, water, comfort room.

To be honest, this is a funny story. As you can see from Episode 1, our hotel is a new company and lacks professionalism. However, they make up for it with kindness and friendliness, which we love! After asking around and doing some online research about tours, we decided to book one with them because:
👉 It’s easier and more private. There are numerous tours online with repetitive schedules and destinations, all with varying prices starting from $13. This gave us the impression of mass tourism and commercialized experiences.
👉 We also appreciated the flexibility, as we weren’t sure what to expect. Gili Meno is stunning, but since we didn’t stay overnight and the information online was mixed, we thought the best approach would be to see it for ourselves and decide whether to stay longer or not. And we stayed for another 300k IDR/ 18$
👉 We're all about hidden gems and pure nature. We went on a snorkel tour where they lured the sea life with bait, disrupting their natural environment, and we didn’t like that. So, we're aiming for less commercialized spots—hidden gems where the corals are still healthy and peaceful. (That’s why I won’t be mentioning any specific names of the stops, sorry 😉

For us, the price difference was worth every penny for the experience we received. Although it doesn't follow the usual format of normal tour operators, which including lunch, snacks, and water, we’re still grateful. If you decide to go on the same experience, remember to prepare yourself (cash, water, ...)

Also, if you're interested in snorkel and sealife like us, you might want to watch several series that we really recommend, it changed our travel style significantly. Sometimes I feel we're so small to protect everything by ourselves, but everytime I see sealife, I want to help them, even if it's just a tiny effort 😭 Watch:
