Originally broadcast on PBS, viewer comments ranged from "magnificent" and "remarkable" to "one of the best television programs I have seen in a long time." The film had its world premiere at the Museum of Modern Art and was screened at the New York Independent Film & Video Festival. The film has also been awarded a CINE Golden Eagle, a Crystal Award of Excellence and a Telly Award.
