KwaZulu-Natal police say they are looking for an unknown number of suspects following a cash-in-transit robbery on the N2 southbound near the cement factory.
This has forced the closure of the N2 highway in the area in both directions.
Police believe that the suspects attacked a cash-in-transit vehicle, assaulted two security guards and robbed them of their firearms, before stealing an undisclosed amount of money.
During the robbery, the suspects fired several shots and three bystanders were reportedly shot and injured.
