Cetatuia Brasov - Plimbare in Decembrie

Cetățuia avea o așezare strategică, pentru a observa și încetini avansarea invadatorilos spre cetatea propriu-zisă, care era Brașovul. E cunoscută sub numele de Cetatea de Strajă sau Cetățuia. Punctul e și acum unul cu bună așezare, care oferă vederi excelente spre centrul orașului, orașul vechi și muntele Tâmpa.

Brasov Citadel
Strategically overlooking the town and the plains to north, the citadel is part of Brasov's outer fortification system. In 1524 the first wooden defence walls were erected, replaced between 1554 and 1690 by the four massive stone bastions you see now.
It is very easy to find the Citadel of Brasov as it is on a top Strajă hill that you can see basically from anywhere in the city.
There are two ways to reach to the fortress, one is taking the pedestrian narrow path (behind the Art High School) which is shorter but a bit adventurous and the second one is along the road of the cars which is a longer but better and safer way.
The Citadel has in recent years hosted a restaurant, cafe and nightclub among other things, never fulfilling its real potential. It is, however, gorgeously lit at night, and there are splendid views if you care to walk all the way up.
For the moment it's temporary close.
