TRAP Your Opponent! 🔒 Control Deck | Pokémon TCG Pocket

This Banette & Ariados deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket is built around one main strategy: trapping the opponent’s Active Pokémon and completely locking it out of the game 😈. By denying Energy attachments, increasing retreat costs, copying key attacks, and removing Energy from play, this deck is extremely oppressive in the current meta.

Banette
Banette is the centerpiece of the deck. Its attack prevents your opponent from attaching any Energy to their Active Pokémon on their next turn, making it much harder for them to attack or retreat in the following turn.

Ariados
Ariados enables the trap with its Ability, which increases your opponent’s retreat cost by 1. When combined with Banette’s attack, the opponent often has no Energy available to pay the increased retreat cost, leaving them trapped in the Active Spot.

Ditto
Ditto adds flexibility. It can copy the attack of one of your non-EX Pokémon, usually copying Banette’s attack, allowing you to maintain the Energy lock without relying on a single attacker.

Mew EX
Mew EX works as a strong meta counter. It can copy the attack of the opponent’s Active Pokémon, letting you turn powerful meta attackers against their own strategy.

Team Rocket Grunt
Team Rocket Grunt is the key Support card for reinforcing the lock. You flip a coin until you get tails, and for each heads, your opponent discards one Energy from their Pokémon. When this Energy denial is combined with Banette preventing attachments and Ariados increasing retreat costs, the opponent’s Active Pokémon becomes completely trapped.

Win Condition
With Energy being discarded by Team Rocket Grunt, attachments blocked by Banette, retreat costs increased by Ariados, and attacks copied by Ditto and Mew EX, the opponent quickly runs out of options. From there, you win by slowly taking knockouts while maintaining full control of the game.
