Chikohwero asserted that the crisis stems from the passing of the party's former leader, the late Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.
He cited conflicting court judgments and the subsequent emergence of "centers of power" as the primary drivers of confusion and infighting.
Chikohwero announced his intention to invoke the party's constitution to initiate a conflict resolution process, positioning himself as the mandated figure to lead this intervention.
The announcement was made from the party's headquarters, which he stated had been "locked out" and taken over by the Security and Defence organs of the party to "safeguard" its assets.
He stressed that the party must move away from being a "party of courts" and focus on a political move to gain membership, with an upcoming Congress and election as key priorities.
