Georgian cellist Sandro Sidamonidze performs Zhao Jiping’s Zhuang Zhou’s Dream, a work inspired by Eastern philosophy and poetic imagery, exploring the relationship between reality and illusion.

Sidamonidze’s interpretation received critical attention from Chinese media. Writing in Music Weekly, critics noted that his performance “gave a clear answer” to whether a foreign performer could grasp the Eastern philosophical realm of the work, observing that he “precisely captured the literati spirit in which reality and illusion coexist,” allowing audiences to experience music that is “deeply rooted in national tradition, yet capable of resonating with the world.”
