HERE LIES LOVE Musical 🇵🇭 My *HONEST* Review of New Imelda Marcos Musical on Broadway

Controversy surrounds the opening of "HERE LIES LOVE", the new Broadway musical about former Philippine First Lady, Imelda Marcos. By pure coincidence, I was in New York City the weekend it opened on Broadway, so I went to see the original musical by David Byrne of Talking Heads and Fat Boy Slim. After seeing the original Broadway cast with Lea Salonga, Arielle Jacobs, Jose Llana and Conrad Ricamora, I decided to give my honest review of the show. I also want to address the complexity of the musical production as it relates to the glorification of a controversial figure (Imelda Marcos) and the role she played in a pivotal time in Philippine history. As a Filipina American Creative, I have to ask the important question that is on many Filipinos' minds: Is this the story we want to be telling?

Binalot ng kontrobersya ang pagbubukas ng "HERE LIES LOVE", ang bagong Broadway musical tungkol kay dating Philippine First Lady, Imelda Marcos.
