What is Symbiosis? In this video, Ethan discussed this commonly-used and commonly misunderstood term, and how it applied to forest ecology. Symbiosis, which is often confused with the term "mutualism," also includes commensalism, competition, parasitism and predation. While these other types of relationships between organisms are less easy to appreciate than mutualisms (mutually-beneficial relationships between organisms), they are equally foundational to forest ecology.
