1. Overview
It is a subway system in the metropolitan area that connects Daehwa Station in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do to Ogeum Station in Songpa-gu, Seoul, and is directly connected to Seoul Subway Line 3 and Ilsan Line. The color of the route is orange colour and the meaning of the color means peace. It is one of the four subway lines connecting Goyang City and Seoul City along with the Gyeongui and Jungang lines of the metropolitan subway, the West Sea line of the metropolitan subway, and the A line of the metropolitan express railway.
Originally, it was treated as different routes, so Seoul Subway Line 3 was colored orange and Ilsan Line was colored indigo or gray, and the route map was marked separately, but in 2000, it was integrated under the name of Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 3. However, under the provisions of the Railroad Business Act and the Urban Railroad Act, it is officially still considered a separate line. The evidence is that only the figures of the Ilsan Line appear separately in the railway distance table of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The trains currently in operation include the Seoul Metro 3000 VVVF train and the Korea Railroad 3000 train. There are 49 programs for Seoul Metro and 16 programs for Korea Railroad Corporation. Seoul Metro: The ratio of vehicles to Korea Railroad Corporation is about 3:1.
