I just had to try this out. I’ve been thinking about it for a pretty long time and now it was time to try this out. I might do this test again in the future with bigger and more panels or at least two panel. This motor is free from digital electronic parts, It just have some simple resistors and a big brushed electric motor so therefore the voltage does not matter so much in this test. Do not try this if you have a more advanced motor than this, it can break due to the higher voltage that the panel put out.
For normal use I have this 160w panel connected to a 105ah lead acid battery with a really cheap PWM 12v charge controller. This works very very well for me because I’m normally just drive my boat for around 5 to 10 minutes then I will be trying my new fishing spot for around 30 minutes and that fishing time is almost enough fill up the energy that I used from the battery to change my fishing spot.
So I can be out and fishing almost a complete day if I like to without the need of external charge of the battery.
Im a huge fan of lithium and I might swap my lead acid battery out in the future but I also think that lead acid battery is a more safe option if I happen to have a saltwater inside of the battery storage, that’s not good if so
