Join me as we celebrate Naveen’s birthday in the softest, most homely way — from a quick Woolies run, to making a semiya payasam–inspired tiramisu, to our little morning traditions with Jhanvi.
It’s a simple weekday birthday, but filled with the sweetest moments… warm kitchen smells, handwritten cards, tiny surprises, and a cosy dinner out.

✨ Semiya Payasam Tiramisu – Quick Recipe ✨
✨ INGREDIENTS
For Payasam Milk:
• Vermicelli – ½ cup
• Milk – 2 cups
• Sugar – 3–4 tbsp (adjust to taste)
• Cardamom pods – 3–4, crushed
• Extra milk – 2–3 tbsp (if it thickens)
For Cream Layer:
• Thickened cream – 1 cup (250 ml)
• Powdered sugar – 3–4 tbsp
• Cardamom sugar – 1 tbsp (blend 1 pod + 1 tbsp sugar)
• Mascarpone cheese – 250 g tub
• Almond extract – 3–4 drops
Assembly:
• Ladyfingers – 1 pack (about 20–22 pieces)
• Strained cooked vermicelli (from payasam)
• Boondi – ¼ cup (optional)
• Crushed pistachios – 1–2 tbsp
• Dried rose petals – 1 tbsp
• Detachable cake base or ring
✨ METHOD
1. Payasam Base
• Cook vermicelli in milk + sugar until soft.
• Add crushed cardamom; remove pods once fragrant.
• Strain the cooked vermicelli and keep aside for layering.
• If the payasam milk thickens, loosen with a splash of milk.
2. Cream Layer
• Whip thickened cream to stiff peaks.
• Add powdered sugar in batches, starting with cardamom sugar.
• In another bowl, fold mascarpone with almond extract.
• Gently fold mascarpone mixture into the whipped cream.
3. Layering
• Dip each ladyfinger quickly in the payasam milk.
• Layer: soaked ladyfingers → cream → strained vermicelli → boondi (optional).
• Repeat the layers once more.
4. Topping
• Smooth the top cream layer.
• Add crushed pistachios + dried rose petals.
• Cover and refrigerate overnight.
✨ SERVE
Slice and enjoy — tastes exactly like a cozy bowl of semiya payasam in tiramisu form.
