Are you already familiar with Lucéram? This small village in the Nice hinterland is especially famous for hosting the largest number of nativity scenes at Christmas time. They are everywhere: in the streets, cellars, barns, on windowsills, and even in the communal bread oven. They have been bringing this village to life for nearly 500 years during the month of December. Come, let's take you on a journey of Christmas magic!

It's been a ritual for 25 years now. At Christmas time, thousands of small clay figurines appear throughout the village. Shepherds, water carriers, lumberjacks, farmers, millers, and bakers busily assemble in their miniature Provençal villages. And tens of thousands of visitors flock to Lucéram to visit them.

Around the feast of Saint Barbe, in early December, hundreds of small villages and their figurines are set up in the village. This highly anticipated event in the region is organized by members of the Maison de Pays Association of Lucéram and Haut Paillon and the village residents.

The Lucéram nativity scenes are a must-see in the region.
It all began at Christmas 1996, when Christiane Ricord, president of the Maison de Pays, decided to install a giant nativity scene in the Saint Pierre chapel. This Provençal nativity scene is very special because it accurately reproduces the village and includes around a hundred figurines. Following an article in the local newspaper, thousands of visitors flock to Lucéram to see this nativity scene.

The following year, residents followed suit and created their own nativity scenes in front of their homes. The ritual began, and the first "nursery tour" was inaugurated in 1998. The phenomenon grew from strength to strength. From 33 nurseries at the start, we've grown to 500 some twenty years later. And there's something for everyone. The largest is over 10 meters long!

But the village has other assets up its sleeve. It also possesses a typically Niçois charm that's appreciated in all seasons.
