The Diesel Traction Group’s D1015 “Western Champion” made a fine return to mainline passenger work, hauling a 13-coach loaded test run between London Paddington and Birmingham New Street. Champion is seen firstly running light at Ealing Broadway on its way into Paddington to join the set, before blasting down the fast lines (surely for the first time in a long while!) at Hayes & Harlington. 57303 was on the rear of the train, hauling the set into Birmingham from Bescot after 1015 detached.
