Ep 6 Day 2 in Lonavala (Maharashtra), Karla Caves, Fudge and Chikki

Lonavala is a one of the popular near Mumbai, Maharashtra.

It is about 63 km away from Pune and about 80 km away from Mumbai.

We had spent 2 days in Lonavla- this is journey of day 2 of our tour.

Below are the activities we did on this day.

We started our day with Maharashtrian breakfast at Manashakti Research Centre.

Misal Pav - Rs 70
Puran Poli - Rs 60
Timing 7:30 am to 7:00 pm

Manashakti Research Centre (Lonavala) - This Centre focusing on Education, Health and Well-being of the Society via science and technology. They help people achieve tension-free success and peace of mind through scientific means and social welfare activities.

Charges - Rs 400 per person.
Timing - 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (all 7 days)

Karla Caves - It is one of the most famous Buddhist rock-cut cave sites in India.The cave includes beautiful sculptures of elephants that are decorated with metal jewels.

Inside the complex of the caves there is Ekvira Devi temple too. It is believed that the temple was built by the Pandavas when they visited this place during their 14 year long exile.

There is no ticket for temple visit

Ticket - Rs 25 per person

Cooper's Fudge And Chikkis - We came here to have Fudges. Fudge is a dessert that is filled with chocolates and nuts that lend a crunchy and nutty flavor.

Walnut Chocolate Fudge - Rs 1600/kg

Maganlal Chikki - This shop has been serving customers since 1880.
Peanut Chikki - Rs 400/kg

After this we had vada pav at Golden Vada Pav shop.
Vada Pav - Rs 20

Shree Narayani Dham Temple - It is about 2 km away from Lonavala Railway Station. The main deity of the temple is Maa Narayani and on either side of the main shrine are shrines dedicated to Lord Ganapathi, Lord Hanuman and other Hindu deities.

Timing: 7:30am to 12:00 noon
3:15 pm to 9:00 pm

Shree Narayani Seva Sansthan - They provide rooms for tourists.
Tariff - Rs 1400 for weekdays and Rs 2000 for weekend.

Hotel Annapurna - This hotel is located near Lonavala bus stand. We had dinner here.
Maharashtrian Thali - Rs 200

After having dinner we returned to our hotel MTDC Karla.
