This easy fix saved me tons of money on parts and was a permanent solution. I cleaned the mass airflow sensor with the correct cleaner from the parts store. It’s called “mass airflow sensor cleaner.” Do not use brake cleaner or anything else as it can damage the sensor. In my opinion it’s the first thing to do if you get a check engine light related to O2 sensors or catalytic converter. It worked on my 2009 Subaru Impreza (outback sport model) but could work on other vehicles as well. Also, don’t forget to change your air filter while you’re in there.
