Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Mazda CX5, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Yakima Fullback 2 trunk mounted two bike rack. That's part number Y02634. So I've already got it all loaded up on the CX5, just to give a good idea of how it holds our bikes and how its set up on our CX5.To start off, I would say that this is one of our premium trunk mounted bike racks. Reason why is it comes with a lock, so we can secure our bikes to the bike rack, that way they cannot be removed. Also features a bottle opener here at the rear. So we can enjoy our Buds at the end of a hard ride.
And also the way it secures our bike. We have the zip strips as opposed to a rubber strap that may deteriorate over time.It also comes with a wheel step, excuse me wheel strap to prevent our front wheel from banging around on our other bike or our vehicle or even the bike rack. But it secures our bikes with three zip strips. We've got two for our top tube and then one for our seat post tube. The one for our seat post tube is going to prevent the sway on our bike when we're on the road, preventing bike to bike contact, bike to bike rack contact, and bike to vehicle contact. But let's go ahead and take our bike off.
So give you a quick run on how the strips work. They simply pull out by squeezing the tabs on either side. When we're securing our bike they easily secure. Once they're all out of the way, we can remove our bike. And I like to replace my strips.
Another thing I'd like to point out, is that the padding that is featured on our cradles is nice and soft compared to other bike racks. And they also, the anti-sway collapses to make it easier to get our bike on and off. Depending on what kind of bike you have, it may be easier to have it folded.Let's go ahead and grab some measurements. So with the arms out, we've added about 30 inches to our CX5. The nice thing is they fold down for compact storage.
What we'll do is we'll come over here to this gray hub, rotate it up, and then fold it down until it snaps into place. Now this will be ideal for pulling into a tight parking spot or in your garage. So with them folded down, we're now compact and we're looking I'd say about nine inches. Now the way it secures to our CX5, we have four straps. We've got two for the top and then two for the bottom. Now with this bike rack, the straps are used in what's called an anchor mode. All of the straps do come with a rubberized hook. When we're using the anchor mode, the strap actually comes up through the bottom like so. And then it wedges between the openings on top and on bottom. So it's actually underneath on top and then underneath our rear hatch on bottom. Now another great thing about this bike rack is that because of the way it secures multiple different ways, it's also going to fit multiple different vehicles. So if you have any other SUV's in the household or even sedans. Now let's take a closer look on how it's mounted. So we do have the straps. It's also padded on the upright, you can see how it rests on our rear window here. That's not going to be a problem. And how it secures down here right by our license plate, it's also padded. It's a nice option there. It's not going to cover up our license plate, so we don't have to worry about relocating that or even not being seen. Now our windshield wiper, we're not going to be able to use that obviously. And another thing I would recommend is not opening up your rear hatch with this secured, because your straps may come loose. I just wouldn't recommend it. But with that being said, that's complete our test fit of the Yakima Fullback 2 trunk mounted bike rack, part number Y02634 on our 2018 Mazda CX5. First, we'll take it onto our slalom course. This will show you the side to side action such as making turns or evasive maneuvers. Now we're at the alternating speed bumps. This will show you how it looks driving on uneven pavement or pot holes. Finally, we're at the solid speed bumps, which simulates going into your driveway or parking lots.
