‎The first 13 verses call the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to stand in night prayer, emphasizing the importance of spiritual discipline. He is instructed to pray half the night, more or less, and to recite the Qur'an slowly and with reflection. These verses highlight how night worship strengthens the soul and brings clarity to the heart and mind.

‎Later, the Surah speaks about remembering Allah ﷻ and fully turning to Him. It describes His sovereignty over the East and West and how to deal with those who mock the truth — by responding with patience and grace. The verses warn about arrogant people, their punishment in the Hereafter, and scenes from the Day of Judgment, such as mountains crumbling and the earth trembling.

‎Towards the end of the Surah (verse 20), Allah brings ease by revealing that praying all night is not obligatory. This verse gives flexibility due to life circumstances such as illness, travel, or striving in Allah’s cause. The Surah concludes by encouraging believers to give charity, promising that Allah will multiply their reward — for He is Forgiving and Merciful.
